Go Fish Prototype 0.81             play game | video | paper | home

The above video shows a young researcher (12 yrs old), winning the game. He had been introduced to the game only fifteen minutes before. He had no prior experience with VRML.

His initial feedback, "give me more".

We will give him more. Fish can be faster. We can add smaller animals and let him explore microworlds. We can ask questions about the nature of the reef starting with "Why aren't there fish outside the reef". (note: as an old-timer in web3d, it was shocking to see his instant ability to use VRML. Many academics need to take take care in applying their own lack of skill to this medium)

The prototype is being evaluated at the University of Baltimore by the KidsTeam Project. KidsTeam incorporates a collaborative approach to multimedia design. Kids, teachers, parents and design professionals work as a team
