IMMORTALIZE YOUR STUFF
Do you keep stuff: (a) for that future “project”? (b) that is holding you back emotionally? (c) that you never look at? (d) that you store in various places or drive around with? (e) all of the above?

Well - bring that stuff to eyedrum and get creative. We will be making assemblages/ collages with mixed media. Discussion of composition and various approaches as well as exploratory exercises will lead you to create finished pieces. Your pieces will evolve to reflect your own ideas. No art background necessary.
The instructor uses stuff in her work as well and wants to make it clear that she is in no
way comparing herself to the two above mentioned geniuses. Go to www.jayniecrimmins.com .

Digital Faust March 18, 2009
8:30PM - - -
Price:  $7

An abyss of derelict technology houses the tale that unfolds as a penitent confession is heard over the cinematic Hate-city scene hip-hop beats that drive the journey through an eventual fall from grace. This 21st century perspective and approach to the story of Doctor Faustus brings to life the greed, envy, and pride of man that guides Faust from a worldly scholar to becoming "a man ascended," a unique form of existence. A new Faust for a new age, one of technology, information, and Sin. "Eritus sicut Deus, Scientes Bonum et Malum." Will be as God, Knowledge Good and Evil.

Special Events:
March 18th: After the show, grab a beer and join the discussion in a talkback with the artist.
March 19th: Continue the experience with a performance from the contributing musicians of "Digital Faust," with DJ Moon keeping the beats going between sets.

INDIA AT 78rpm
Excerpt from a work in progress,
2009 (16 minutes)
An excerpt from a project about 78rpm records and the intersection of folk and classical musical traditions in India. Mostly filmed in 2008 in the Southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, including processions, street musicians and an interview with an Indian 78 collector. Ideally this will be a feature length documentary and will also focus on the very earliest recordings made in India.

MY FRIEND RAIN
Sublime Frequencies, 2007.
(36 minutes)
Filmed on various trips through Southeast Asia by Robert Millis and Alan Bishop from 2002 to 2007, My Friend Rain is an impressionistic collage of musical segments and tropical ambiance. Decay and rebirth through the endless Asian monsoon cycle. Locations include: Myanmar (Burma), Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and Indonesia.

DJ/field recordings - music from Victrola favs, Sublime frequencies comps, & other surprises.

"PHI TA KHON" (Robert Millis) is a ghost festival that takes place every year in the Isan province of Northern Thailand. Colorful masks, MoLam music, magnificent costumes, and phallic icons of all sizes, Phi Ta Khon is a mind-blowing and obscure tradition hidden in the interior of the Indochine peninsula.
