Justice Yeldham and The Dynamic Ribbon Device
September 4, 2010 10:00PM - - -
Blossoming Noise
Presents:
Justice Yeldham and The Dynamic Ribbon Device
“The most exciting performer I have seen in the last three years – in fact, since I first saw Iggy Pop.” - Bruce Russell, WIRE magazine.
“What’s been described as “a trumpet player trapped in a two dimensional universe” is in fact the unique work of Justice Yeldham, a maverick
musician with an unhealthy obsession with sheets of broken glass.
In his infamous show that has astonished and bemused countless people in over 40 countries, Yeldham ecstatically purses his lips against sheets of amplified glass whilst deftly employing various vocal techniques ranging
from throat singing to raspberries, turning discarded shards into crude musical instruments. The results are a wild array of cacophonous noise
that is strangely controlled and oddly musical.
The instruments simple, original and effective premise is a welcome riposte to over complicated musical performances of modern times. A one of a kind act re-defining the expression ‘don’t try this at home’ this show quite simply needs to be witnessed to be fully appreciated, let alone understood.”

Nathaniel Bartlett
September 13, 2010 9:00PM - 11:00PM Price: $10
Nathaniel Bartlett
Nathaniel Bartlett's performances seamlessly meld his five-octave acoustic marimba with electronics, a powerful computer, and an eight-channel cube of loudspeakers. With the audience positioned in the center of the cuboid loudspeaker array, a three-dimensional soundfield can be projected into the audience space, totally immersing the audience in the music. In Bartlett's music, the spatialization and motion of sounds is a central musical parameter.
The three-dimensional sound field is enriched by the use of high-definition audio (superior to CD-quality audio), which allows for a significant
increase in sonic nuances.
The performance will be preceded at 7:30pm by an Artists Talk discussing Nathaniels unique tools and techniques.
Expo '70 is the main driving improvisational essence of Justin Wright. Having started the project in Los Angeles in 2003, Wright has pushed his project to new levels, releasing a number of albums as cdr's and 2 full-length albums. Expo '70's first album "Animism", which debuted in 2007 on Kill Shaman, is an eclectic mix of krautrock, ambient drone, space exploration and minimal compositions. Comparisons range from Brian Eno, Ash Ra Tempel, A.R. & Machines, SunnO))) and Earth, but not directly sounding like any of those artists in their entirety.
"This music has to be the work of some immortal group of dronelords, sitting in their multidimensional fortress, atop some mysterious lost mountain, who in their infinite wisdom, allow their dreamlike drones and angelic ambience to fall from the sky and settle over us like a light dusting of snow..." - Aquarius Records
"An art-damaged jam between Tangerine Dream, early 90's Residents, and a dubbed-out electro-King Crimson. Heavy guitars, fractured beats, pulsing bass and massive amounts of knob-twiddling all collide for an amazing psychedelic journey to a better place. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED." - Public Guilt
Brainworlds
As •Brainworlds•, Atlanta based guitarist Mason Brown works to envelop the listener in sheets of meditative sound and delve deep into the subconscious to explore the hidden relationships between the micro and the macro. Towering waves of electric harmony are the vessel in which the journey from myopia is made. Devoid of the constraints of time and gravity, the music of •Brainworlds• floats in the metaphysical realm where mind and universe coalesce.

Diminished Men, Shephards, Glen Iris
September 22, 2010 10:00PM - - - Price: 7
Diminished Men
......."A superbly crafted mosaic of speakeasy hallucinations and haunted geography. Besides the Italian horror overtones, the freakshow backdrops, Korshid-Egyptian guitar passages, and flipped out electronic space-psych, are perhaps the best surf-inspired tracks I’ve heard in years. Elements of Joe Meek’s best Moontrekkers productions cross with a dash of Badalamenti murder blues-drama, setting the stage for Steve Schmitt’s cobra-twilight guitar work and the outlaw drums of Dave Abramson (who has collaborated with Secret Chiefs 3, Grails, Eyvind Kang, Six Organs of Admittance, Kayo Dot, Master Musicians of Bukkake, Climax Golden Twins, The Curious Mystery)."
- Alan Bishop (Sun City Girls, Abduction Records, Sublime Frequencies)
Shephards
Jonathan's Birthday Show!
Glen Iris
"Glen Iris brings back big rock through punk-infused classic rock licks by two of Atlanta's hottest guitarists, Justin Hughes and Chris Strawn. Drummer and former Icecaps front man Jonathan Lueke rounds out what is already a formidable line-up." - Justin Sias PINE Magazine
Brian Lewis Saunders/Hostage Pagaent/Graham Moore
September 23, 2010 10:00PM - - - Price: $7
Bryan Lewis Saunders (b.1969, in Washington D.C.) is an underground poet, storyteller, videographer and performance artist. His vocal interventions accompanied by experimental music and videos are what he calls 'Stand-Up Tragedy ': whereas the comics try to make you laugh, Saunders tries to make you cry. Explorer of the human tragedy, he subjects American evils to the scalpel by revealing hidden aspects, seeking to make it socially acceptable to show pain in public. It is difficult to remain insensitive in front of the extremely intense performance of Saunders. In 2006 he started his own label Stand-Up Tragedy Records, and since 2007 has been performing in Contemporary Art Museums, Media Arts Schools, and at Music & Poetry Festivals mainly in Western Europe. Co-collaborators include Z'EV, John Duncan, Kommissar Hjuler und Frau. - erratum
"Capable of generating extreme physical reactions in the listener, this record (Near Death Experience) represents the sort of material that a wimp like me normally steers clear of, but I do respect the all-or-nothing qualities of Saunders’ performances; everything to him is truly a matter of life or death, with no hyperbole!" - Ed Pinsent
"The bastard son of William S. Burroughs, Antonin Artaud, and Crispin Glover." - Lydia Lunch
"Extremely Harrowing ! ! !" - Alan Sondheim

Formed in the cold months of early 2010, Hostage Pageant is a one-person noise/power electronics project based in Southwest Virginia. An audio manifestation of the negative aspects of human nature and emotions, such as self-loathing and clinical depression, with the focus being not on conceptual themes, but rather on the physical/mental reactions brought about by means of sonic manipulation. Preferring to shine a bright beam of light on the dark corners of society and the subconscious in order to illuminate what normally hides in the denied recesses of the collective psyche, unseen.
Graham Moore (Blossoming Noise Records) challenges the sonic spectrum with analog sequences, pristine oscillations, and bouts of delicious racket.
Hopi Torvald opens with found sound manipulations and droney synth goodness.
