Having been condemned to hell by his parents 3 years ago for his "lifestyle" choice, "SAVED" explores the notions of religion, denial and hypocrisy in regards to the symbolic closet as safe spiritual sanctuary or repressive religious refuge. Exploration of the history of his life and sexuality has come front and center in his work over the past 5 years, at times, uncomfortably autobiographical as he continue to breakdown the religion and repression he has struggled with his entire life. "SAVED" helps to shed light on such hypocrisies as the church continues to deny and cover up any wrong doings.
Terry S. Hardy is a painter, assemblage and installation artist. Born in Vernon, Alabama he has participated in more than 60 exhibitions. Terry's interest in public/installation art continues to grow as his work becomes more autobiographical and delves deeper into his life long struggles with religion, relationships and sexuality.
On display in Eyedrum's small gallery through Sat June 26th.
