4:00PM - - -
Price:  free

Carol Novack--recipient of a writer’s award from the Australian government, author of a poetry chapbook, erstwhile criminal defense and constitutional lawyer in NYC, and publisher of Mad Hatters’ Review--reads from her new book, 'Giraffes in Hiding: The Mythical Memoirs of Carol Novack.' Hugh Fox has called Novack's collection 'The most seductive, original, impacting work I have seen for years. A fascinating combination of Kerouacian street-talk plus a trip through the museum of Modern Art in Chicago, plus a nod-off to Kosty's furthest out experimentalism.'

More information is at Novack's blog.

Black Lips, Deerhunter - SOLD OUT! December 30, 2010
9:00PM - - -

Punks. Provocateurs. Incendiary. Infamous. The notorious Black Lips have earned many labels, somehow simultaneously embracing and dismissing each one—viciously spitting in the face of naysayers and raucously embracing the crowds who cheer them on at every stage. They’ve been banned from venues too many times to count, stirred up controversy in every corner of the world, and recorded a half-dozen albums of truly awesome lo-fi punk—and done it all with straightforward sincerity and charm.

Deerhunter is a band which formed in 2001 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The band consists of Bradford Cox (vocals, guitar, piano), Moses Archuleta (drums, synths), Lockett Pundt (guitar, organ, vocals) and Josh Fauver (bass, vocals). The group began with the ambition of fusing the lulling hypnotic states induced by ambient and minimalist music with the klang and propulsion of garage rock. The band has weathered chaotic line-up changes, the death of a member, and much discouragement. Their live performances almost always leave audiences polarized.

DOORS OPEN AT 9PM / ALL AGES
Last show at EYEDRUM 290 MLK.
New location announced soon.
