FOOD- It's central to every culture, essential for life, celebrated in song and story, and - as Fran Leibowitz noted - goes a long way toward rounding out a good meal. Food is also a major bone of contention: Likes and dislikes, allergies, fad diets (all those restrictive this-or-thatisms), genetic modification, good and bad gustatory memories...
We are assembling a menu of 10-minute presentations (delicious or distasteful) on the aforementioned topic. Lecture, poetry, fiction, music, projections, non-flammable cooking demos, divination with tea leaves or chicken bones, etc. - all will be considered. If you're not up for presenting, by all means come and be edified and entertained. In keeping with tradition, there will be a contest of some sort, and someone will walk off with a valuable prize (probably edible).
