Historian and academic Hester L. Furey, whose first chapbook is titled Little Fish, shares her poetry.
Furey has taught at the Art Institute of Atlanta for 14 years and has also taught at Agnes Scott College and the University of Illinois. She is the editor of Dictionary of Literary Biography 345: American Radical and Reform Writers, Second Series. Recently two of her poems, “Grief Tooth” and “House of Mercy,” appeared in Winter Tales: Women on the Art of Aging, edited by R.A. Rycraft and Leslie What.

Atlanta native Amy McDaniel, who helps run the Solar Anus reading series, closes XWA 3 with her poems. She has spent time in California, New York, and Bangladesh. Her poetry and prose credits include Tin House, RealPoetik, PANK, Dark Sky, Alimentum, and Saveur. McDaniel co-edited From the Second Line, a collection of her students’ essays about Hurricane Katrina.
