Book Reading and Signing: Dogtown, by Elyssa East
7:00PM - 10:00PM
Price:  FREE

Marietta native Elysaa reads from her book Dogtown: Death and Enchantment in a New England Ghost Town. East will read, sign, and present photos and video of the people and places recounted in this nonfiction work that examines a grisly murder and an abandoned colonial-era village on the outskirts of Gloucester, MA. The alternating chapters tell the stories of the murder and the town and question whether a place can engender evil.

Cook's work explores the tension between drawing and painting and three-dimensional space. The framework for this exploration is the human form. The figure is amazingly resilient when it comes to abstraction- it can be reassembled in almost any way and still be recognizable. These pieces are fragmented, but also playful, broken, pensive or jubilant, not unlike the flesh and blood figures they are based on.

Russell Cook is an artist and musician. He is currently living in Oakman, GA and an art faculty member at the Georgia Highlands College.
