4th Ward Afro-Klezmer Orchestra
Atlanta's 4th Ward Afro-Klezmer Orchestra founded in 2008 by Gold Sparkle Band member Roger Ruzow merges two styles of music not thought of as compatible in the traditional sense. The original compositions and arrangements blend traditional Klezmer influenced songs and styles with west and south African rhythms to create an exotic amalgamation of afro-beats, Eastern European stomps and American jazz.
The nine piece jazz-orchestra features an all star lineup of some of Atlanta’s best musical talent, members and former members of such ensembles as: Cadillac Jones, Bazooka Ants, Noot d' Noot, Standard Deviation, Sahmada, Chilli Willie Blues Band, Perkenjie Shift, Gold Sparkle Band and Nu South Subteraneans just to name a few.
This ensemble provides new most excellent music!!

Daniel Clay will be opening the evening with songs from his latest release the "Protestant" and many more songs from the Daniel Canon.
"Clay's songs are filled with a dark, almost bleak, uncertainty against which his characters, and by extension all of us, struggle. That struggle is both spiritual and existential, though the difference between the two may be little more than a shade of a degree . . . he thoughtfully explores the many contradictions embedded in modern belief . . . the structure he uses to do this is both surprisingly traditional and thematically ingenious." - Nerd Litter
